Norges Forskningsråd improved daily Unit4 work with Arribatec’s Web Screen Configurator
At Norges Forskningsråd (NF), Unit4 is used by approximately 440 active users across the organisation. This means that even minor issues in daily screens can affect many people.
Over time, Norges Forskningsråd realised that the standard options in Unit4 were not sufficient to support the work they were doing. Users had to remember rules, correct mistakes, and spend time checking their own work. They wanted the system to help users better and reduce errors before they happened.
Choosing Arribatec’s Web Screen Configurator
To solve this, Norges Forskningsråd chose Arribatec’s Web Screen Configurator (WSC) for Unit4.
With WSC, they could adjust screens to match their financial model, internal terms, and daily routines. The aim was clear: make the system easier to use and help users do things right the first time.

Improving invoice approval
One of the first areas they worked on was invoice approval (TFI004).
The screen was updated to align with NF’s financial structure. Posting dimensions were reordered, and some values are now automatically filled in; only valid accounts and tax codes can be selected.
This provides users with clear guidance while working and reduces the risk of incorrect coding. By changing the invoice screen, they have made approval safer and more consistent.
Making timesheets fit daily work
The most significant impact was seen in timesheet entry (TTS025), the most used screen in Unit4 at Norges Forskningsråd.
With WSC, the screen was reshaped to match how NFR registers hours:
- Their own terms are used
- Columns are ordered to fit daily work
- Unused columns are hidden
- Column names match NFR’s language
- Only valid value mixes can be selected using type-ahead checks
Users now see a clean screen that makes sense to them.

The result for users
After using Web Screen Configurator, NFR saw clear results. Screens are easier to understand, mistakes happen less often, and users spend less time fixing errors. Most importantly, users are optimistic about the changes.
